With 263 hp and 249 lb.-ft. of torque, the all-new 3.5L 24-valve V-6 engine in Lincoln MKZ helps any dream take flight. The fact that it achieves those numbers on 87 octane fuel puts even more lift under your wings. Featuring intake Variable Cam Timing (iVCT) to ensure the most complete and efficient combustion, the V-6 is teamed with a wide-ratio 6-speed automatic transmission that maximizes the performance feel of the engine. To deliver smooth, seamless shifts and quiet performance, the engine’s Electronic Throttle Control works with the electronic controls in the transmission, adjusting throttle plate movement to tailor shift timing.

NEW INTELLIGENT ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
Tuned with an emphasis on luxury performance, the available new Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system on Lincoln MKZ reacts automatically to changes in traction for confident driving in all weather conditions. On dry pavement, this active AWD system seamlessly distributes torque between front and rear wheels, optimizing traction for increased control and performance during rapid acceleration and hug-the-tine cornering. On snowy or wet road surfaces, of course, AWD really shines. Since the wheels with the best grip always receive the most power, AWD enhances control when the weather turns nasty. Together with standard Traction Control, AWD can even direct power side to side on each axle, allowing you to continue forward motion if only one wheel has grip.

SOUND REFLEXES
Since front brakes do the lions share of work in bringing any vehicle to a halt, the 4-wheel disc brakes on Lincoln MKZ feature ventilated rotors up front. Venting helps dissipate the intense heat caused by braking, keeping the, area cooler and reducing brake fade. An Anti-lock Brake System gives you enhanced steering control in emergency and hard-braking situ3tions, while LED tail lamps give drivers behind you valuable extra warning time since they reach illumination up to a half-second faster than filament bulbs. Optional HID headlamps require one-third less power yet provide double the light output than their halogen counterparts.
